Sale Fell has a fabulous reputation for being a family friendly Wainwright. With gentle sloping wide grassy paths and a ton of space at the top, the kids have the freedom to run around and let off some steam, whilst you get to admire the panoramic Lake District views, including that of the spectacular Skiddaw.
You can find layby parking for Sale Fell right opposite the starting point (CA13 9YN), or there is more available further down closer to St Margaret’s Church. We did a 2.5 mile loop route, which takes in an amazing viewpoint of Bassenthwaite Lake too. It was an easy Wainwright walk for all of us and one that we would definitely recommend giving a go if you are wanting to try a Lake District walk with kids in tow.
