Our Visit:
We visited here on a warm May bank holiday weekend and so the lakeshore was rammed! Dunmallard is a perfect little uphill walk for little legs at just under 2 miles long, and the perfect place to escape the crowds of Pooley Bridge and Ullswater, as we indeed needed to when we were there. Supposedly it is the site of an old fort, and although there are no remains left, you can make out the shape of the old fort in the landscape at the top.
What the kids loved:
- Climbing the trees
- Running into the fields halfway along the walk
