Camping La Couteliere

After a very stressful day trying to hunt down a campsite, it was 4th time lucky when we arrived at the very beautiful Camping La Couteliere near Lagnes in the Provence Alpes Cote d’Azur.

Upon arrival, we were greeted with a friendly reception before we took a little stroll around the site to pick the pitch we liked best. All the while, taking in the lovely atmosphere of this well laid out site with spacious pitches and very good amenities. The resident chickens were a bonus too, keeping the kids quite pleased. We ended up choosing a pitch close to the children’s playpark (obviously) and the shower block.

For us, stopping at a campsite is more of a service stop, a chance for us to get some laundry done, hoover the motorhome and make use of the Wi-Fi so we can plan the next stages of our trip. But when you stop at a campsite like this it feels like a real treat, the outdoor pool was an added luxury bonus and we really got to unwind and relax.

For dinner, we headed over to the small, but cute on-site snack bar, where we indulged in pizza and cheeseburgers, washed down with a glass of wine for me and a beer for Richard. All very delicious and very good quality! It was then back to the motorhome to get the kids to bed, so we could max out on the wi-fi and binge watch British television shows on YouTube, a pure novelty for us as we have no TV and only occasional have wi-fi when travelling on the road.

The next day we just had to make use of the outdoor swimming pool, despite it being a little bit windy and a little overcast, it was a real treat! The kids pool was actually colder than the main pool, so we spent most of our time splashing around in there!

That night we threw caution to the wind and headed to the snack bar for dinner AGAIN! It’s safe to say that the budget really has gone out the window this week. Richard went all ‘French’ on us and ordered the mussels, whilst I played it safe with a cheeseburger and the kids devoured chicken nuggets and chips.

It’s our final morning, and we are sad to be moving on. But not before one final treat of Croissants and Pain Au Chocolat!

  1. Sounds as if you’re still having a super time. I admire your stamina. Really looking forward to seeing you all when you return. Going to see Nick & Jacky at no.13 soon, hopefully with Kayte. That will be strange but been promising myself a trip to Capel. Give the kids a hug from me. Love Rayxx
