Pay on exit car parking at the Dodd Wood Car Park and cross the road to enter `Mirehouse Gardens. It’s £7 for an all day ticket.

Our Visit:

After visiting Dodd Wood, we spotted Mirehouse just opposite and thought it looked like a fab place to explore, so we came back the following weekend. For access to the gardens, it’s £4.50 for adults and £2 for children, which we think is VERY reasonable. You have quite a bit to explore here, including a kids adventure playground, family nature trails, a woodland walk, and a lakeside walk which takes you right down to the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake. Which just so happens to be the ONLY true lake in the whole of the Lake District (Fun fact).
