We thought we would share with you some of our pre-travel purchases. This is not a definitive guide of what you need to buy when going travelling in a motorhome, but more of an insight into what we think may be useful for our own travels. We’ll check back on this page in a few months and let you know what’s been helpful and what hasn’t.
NOTE that this post does contain affiliate amazon links, which basically means that we will receive a very small commission if you make a purchase. Interestingly, we’ll even get a tiny commission if you click on a link and end up buying something totally different!
For the kids:
Zip Wallets – As anyone with toddlers will know, they have ALOT of toys and there are only so many toys that you can fit into a motorhome. So one of the first things I bought was some plastic zip wallets. So we will use them for their puzzles and cards games, so we don’t have to take loads of bulky game boxes with us. Best of all, you can get a pack of 5 for only £3.31 off Amazon – https://amzn.to/2NLByRw
Tablet Holder – So let’s face it, there are going to be days where the sun doesn’t shine and it will rain all day instead. So on the days where we are stuck inside the motorhome and can’t get out and explore, we are going to need some tricks up our sleeve to save us from a toddler induced mental breakdown (just kidding, but seriously…) So we’ve found this handy tablet holder which we have fixed to the bottom bunk bed, so the children can chill out and watch something of their own on the tablet – https://amzn.to/2XBrFuh
For the Dog:
Pet Cooling Mat – We actually picked this up from the Camping, Caravanning and Motorhome show at the NEC in Birmingham. It’s been on our ‘to buy’ list for a while as we want to make sure our Charlie boy doesn’t get too hot over the summer months in Europe. To be honest, we haven’t got a scooby how hot it will get inside the motorhome, so this could turn out to be completely pointless or a very savvy purchase. We’ll let you know when we know – https://amzn.to/2Hodcfg
Dog Harness – Not too much to comment about on this one. Essentially, we just want Charlie to be properly secured whilst we are driving, so this should do the trick – https://amzn.to/2Tj8hUi
For the Motorhome:
Nextbase Dashcam – We decided to buy a dashcam as we want to capture video footage whilst we are driving. So watch this space, hopefully it won’t be long before we can show you how good it is and share our journey with you – https://amzn.to/2TkNm3a
Merlin 2 in 1 Vaccum – This is also something that we picked up at the Motorhome show in February albeit from a rather overzealous sales guy (obviously his sales technique worked) and to be honest, so far we are pretty impressed. It’s super lightweight and can be used with the long attachable handle or like a handheld hoover and the suction seems really strong – https://amzn.to/2VFRPtQ
Fitflip Microfibre Towels – A huge space saving purchase,
these towels are super absorbent and dry really quickly. Which means we won’t have to take up a whole cupboard with towels for us all! https://amzn.to/2HtPkXR
